About me

Photographer, Model, Author, Performer,
Mother, Cat-Lady, Coffee and Tea Enthusiast

As an artist of many trades, one of my core beliefs is that it's important to have something to look forward to in life to keep you going when the shadows stretch long and the cat naps (and lavender, chamomile, catnip tea) simply aren't enough. Art is my passion, and it shows in all mediums I sink my claws into. It is not uncommon to find me in a cafe curled up with a journal and a pen working on photo shoot ideas, costume sketches, poetry, or my novel. You may have also seen me perform on stage with the Allegan Community Players. I am also an active member of several local groups and committees, including: the Positively Allegan committee, Allegan Area Arts Council, Litter Pickers of Allegan County, Michigan Mini Club and a few others. My family and I are also very proud to support organizations such as the Arbor Day Foundation, LGBTQ of Michigan, Little Free Library, Allegan County Food Pantry and several others.

Photography and modeling have been passions of mine for over fifteen years now. When it comes to portrait photography and boudoir, I stand apart from other photographers in my area because of my experience on both sides of the lens. After so much time it becomes second nature to find a pose that works perfectly with each individual's size and shape to compliment them within the lighting and environment we are shooting.

Often times you may see me around town snapping photos of birds and flowers, when I don't have a client wanting portraits, a wedding, or a local event to attend. Nature is my preferred backdrop, but I am also extremely lucky to have a studio in my historic Gothic Victorian home, along with being able to shoot in many of the other historic homes around Allegan, thanks to my wonderful friends who own them. I also have access to a 40 acre farm and woodland area in Otsego, and another in Plainwell. Not to mention all of the fun we can have exploring all the hidden gems of downtown Allegan and the surrounding area. I also love traveling to my clients and working in their own space.

When I'm not photographing or writing, I am spending time with my wonderfully supportive family. We enjoy walking around town, going camping and hiking, playing music, and going to fun events. Without my husband, our son, our partners, our pets, and our friends and loved ones, life certainly wouldn't be as full and enjoyable as it is.

This life can only be as good as you make it. Create art in your own way, fill your cup with positivity, and capture enjoyable moments. We're here for a limited time; let's have fun, get along, and make the world a more beautiful place. Start by letting YardBird Studio capture your unique beauty in photographs that you can cherish for a lifetime.
